Failure to perform regular preventative maintenance checks on robots can lead to component damage or failure, resulting in slowed production or even downtime. Proper robot maintenance can extend its lifespan by many years, even decades. Regular preventative maintenance can double or even triple the lifespan of a robot. So what does daily preventative maintenance for an ABB robot include? Below, we have compiled some information based on our practical experience for your reference.
Preventive maintenance is required for every industrial robot, including ABB robots. Preventive maintenance ensures optimal performance and consistency on the production line. Failure to perform regular preventive maintenance checks can lead to component damage or failure, slowing down or even halting production. Proper robot maintenance can extend its lifespan by many years, even decades; regular preventive maintenance can significantly increase the robot's service life. So what does daily preventive maintenance for an ABB robot involve? Below, we've compiled some information based on our company's practical experience for your reference.

1. Brake Check: Before normal operation, check the motor brakes on each axis of the robot's motor brakes. The inspection method is as follows: (1) Operate each axis of the manipulator to its maximum load position. (2) On the ABB robot controller, select the motor mode and switch to the "MOTORS OFF" position. (3) Check if the axis remains in its original position. If the robot maintains its position after the motors are turned off, the brakes are functioning properly.
2. Note the Danger of Losing the Reduced Speed (250 mm/s) Function: Do not change the gear ratio or other motion parameters from the computer or teach pendant. This will affect the reduced speed (250 mm/s) function.
3. Working within the ABB Robot Maintenance Area: If work must be performed within the robot's working range, the following points must be observed: (1) The mode selection switch on the ABB robot controller must be set to the manual position to enable the use of the enabling device to disconnect the computer or remote operation. (2) When the mode selection switch is in the <250 mm/s position, the maximum speed is limited to 250 mm/s. The switch is generally set to this position when entering the work area. Only those who are very familiar with the robot should use full speed (100% full speed). (3) Pay attention to the rotating axes of the robot; be careful not to get hair or clothing caught. Also, pay attention to other optional components or equipment on the robot. (4) Check the motor brakes on each axis.
4. Safe Use of the ABB Robot Teach Pendant: The enabling device button on the teach pendant, when pressed halfway, puts the system into MOTORS ON mode. When the button is released or fully pressed, the system switches to MOTORS OFF mode. For safe use of the ABB teach pendant, the following principles must be followed: The enabling device button must not lose functionality. During programming or debugging, when the robot does not need to move, immediately release the enabling device button. After the programmer enters a safe area, the ABB robot teach pendant must be kept on their person at all times to prevent others from moving the robot.

Nobot was invited to attend the Belt and Road International Exchange Conference
On July 28, 2024, the 2024 Liaocheng "Belt and Road" International Exchange Conference and the Unveiling Ceremony of the Central Asia International High-end Talent Joint Training Base were held in the Liaocheng High-tech Zone University Science and Technology Park. Professor Tursunbayev Zaporotot, President of Osh Technological University of the Kyrgyz Republic and corresponding academician of the Kyrgyz Academy of Engineering, and Academician Smaylor Erta of the Kyrgyz Academy of Engineering and the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences, among other experts and scholars from "Belt and Road" countries, participated in the event. Liaocheng Deputy Mayor Wang Gang and Zhang Ya, Party Secretary and Director of the Management Committee of the High-tech Zone, attended the event and delivered speeches.
This training event not only provided a valuable learning opportunity for company managers and key personnel, but also built a platform for communication and sharing. During the training, everyone actively interacted and discussed enthusiastically, exploring effective ways to improve management capabilities together. Through this training, everyone has gained rich knowledge and skills, but more importantly, it has inspired confidence and motivation for the future.
How to use a five-axis machining center efficiently? Today, let's learn a few practical steps!
When using a five-axis machining center, the equipment must first be adjusted to ensure that the workpiece and fixture dimensions precisely match, and that the zero points of each axis are accurately adjusted.
Why do composite materials require 5-axis CNC machining?
Composite materials are widely used in various fields such as aerospace, automotive, construction, energy, energy storage, infrastructure, marine, pipelines and tanks, sports and entertainment, and transportation due to their light weight, high fatigue resistance, and strong fracture resistance. Among them, aerospace and automotive industries are the largest application markets for composite materials. Five-axis CNC plays an important role in the processing of composite materials. Why do composite materials need to be processed using five-axis CNC?
Dual-station five-axis machines offer several significant advantages. First, while one station is being machined, the other can be used for material loading and unloading, ensuring continuous, non-stop machining and significantly improving production efficiency. Second, the dual-station design makes operation more convenient and reduces waiting time. However, dual-station five-axis machines typically cost more than single-station machines and may require more operating and maintenance space.
