Two, Drive Technology

There are two common types of drives for linear three-axis systems: rolling ball screw drives and linear motor drives. Most machining centers use rolling ball screw drives for their linear three-axis systems, while fewer use linear motor drives. Although linear motor drives are more efficient than rolling ball screw drives, linear motors are more expensive, resulting in higher costs for machining centers that use them.

Three, Maximum Machining Dimensions

The maximum machining dimensions refer to the travel range. Machining centers with different travel ranges have different prices; the larger the travel range, the higher the price.

Four, Numerical Control (NC) System

The NC system is the core component of a machining center; it controls the movement of all components, acting like the brain. Well-regarded NC system brands include Mitsubishi (Japan), Siemens (Germany), and Syntec and BaoYuan (Taiwan). These brands each have their own advantages. Domestic NC systems currently cannot compare to these internationally renowned brands, so machining centers using these systems are generally better and more expensive than those using domestic NC systems.

Five, Tool Magazine Type

As is well known, there are three types of tool magazines: turret-type, disc-type, and chain-type. Vertical machining centers typically use turret-type or disc-type tool magazines; chain-type tool magazines are rarely seen in vertical machining centers and are more commonly used in horizontal machining centers. Turret-type tool magazines are cheaper than other types but have slower tool changing speeds. Disc-type and chain-type tool magazines generally have tool changing speeds of around 4 seconds, while turret-type tool magazines take around 8 seconds.
